Waterside
Pavilion mirroring dark green water in the pond
Waterside
pavilion lies among bamboo forest, being the main building in this
section. It was built on the pond side, thirty feet wide, gray brick walls
and small tile roof. There are bamboo and wood carvings set on door,
window, attic and fan. A pond of dark water is in front of the door, lined
with stones from Huanshan mountains. The stone bank is winding and
changeable. Osmanthus, crape myrtle and Chinese flowering crabapple grow
on its periphery. In addition, there are a few tall trees among them. The
flowers and trees are luxuriant but well spaced like a carpet of flowers
and green grass. In the pond there appear water lilies here and there with
fish playing around. From east bank via a stone bridge tourists may reach
the isle in Hit pond. On its west side there is a raises path connected
with the bank. On the isle there is yellow stone rocker, with spring
water. Climbing the top of the rockery, tourists look down at pavilion,
waterside pavilion and winding corridor, which combine into one but each
has its own charm. The gentle breeze arouses ripples on the pond and makes
tall bamboos play with their shadows. It is very quiet and secluded here.
There is a tea house in waterside pavilion and people can stop to have a
rest, drink tea and appreciate the scenery at the same time.
