Pavilion of caressing clouds

Going east from the walking of Iower of Embracing Mountains, one reached directly pavilion of caressing clouds on the tip of the middle peak. It is the highest architecture in the garden. Standing in the pavilion and overlooking the garden, ancient trees, rockeries, ponds and buildings are all at one’s feet. Here one looks down at Summer Rockery in west of the garden, one feels like as if it was like a sea of clouds nearby.  That is why Summer Rockery is also named ”Autumn Clouds”. In old days, looking northwards from here, the pavilion offers a panoramic view of the Slender West Lake, Ping Shan Hall and Mt. Goddess of mercy. To our regret, now we can no longer see those beautiful landscapes from here, because of so many skyscrapers in the city. In ancient times, Chinese kept the old customs of climbing a hill or maintain on the Double Ninth Festival. Garden builders wonderfully used the small pavilion to express the theme of Autumn tinge. In the south of the pavilion, the peak of Huang Shan stone stands high, high than the eaves of the pavilion, the platform on the middle peak is so small that only one person can set his foot at it, but if one climbs to the platform by rocky stairs, one will never forget how refreshing and happy one is, when one occupies a commanding position and is far from human socity. Though it is dangerous high here, it is not awe-inspiring, because the pavilion is behind you and will make you never calm down. This is the wonder created by the designer of the pavilion.
